For your assurance
OILIVA GREKA extra virgin olive oils have various certificates depending on the production process:
Protected Designation of Origin
This EU quality seal guarantees that the production, processing and manufacture of a product has been carried out in a specific geographical area in accordance with a recognised and established procedure. The products have characteristics that are exclusively related to the area and capabilities of the producer in the production region.
Protected Geographical Indication
This EU quality seal documents a link between agricultural products and foodstuffs and the region of origin. One of the production stages, i.e., production, processing or manufacture, must have been carried out in the area of origin. The marked products have a specific property or a reputation they associate with a particular region.
EU Organic label
Since 1 July 2012, the EU organic label has been obligatory for all pre-packaged, organic food products produced in an EU member state and which meet the strict organic farming legislation requirements of the European Union.
Agrocert is a public organisation under the supervision of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food in Greece. Qualified by the EU, it confers the 'Protected Geographical Indication of Origin' seal. It demonstrates that the production, processing and manufacture of a product has been carried out in a specific geographical area in accordance with a recognised and established procedure.
The exceptional properties and quality of the labelled products are closely linked to their place of origin and production. PDO corresponds to the ‘Protected Designation of Origin’ and requires origin and production in the region. PGI is a ‘Protected Ggeographical Indication’ which guarantees that final processing is carried out to high quality standards in the designated area.
DIO is a non-profit organisation, approved by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food as an official control and certification body for organic products in accordance with the EU. It certifies organic products in line with the regulations of the European Union and, in cooperation with international organisations, also based on the requirements of other international standards for organic products.
